Frequently Asked Questions

Yes—chiropractic care is one of the safest healthcare interventions available, especially when compared to medications, injections, or surgery. In fact, it’s so safe, it’s often considered both protective and preventative. Decades of research, malpractice data, and real-world results all support this.
Peer-reviewed studies in JAMA and Spine confirm that spinal adjustments improve pain and function—with only minor, short-term soreness, similar to what you'd feel after a workout. In fact, people who see a chiropractor are significantly less likely to experience injuries than those who visit a primary care physician.
Malpractice data tells the same story. Chiropractors account for just 0.6% of all malpractice claims in the U.S., and my own 2025 premium is only $453—a fraction of what most healthcare providers pay.
For patients with recurring low back pain, research shows that maintenance care (when chosen) can reduce painful days and increase pain-free weeks. It’s never required—but for the right person, it can be a smart, proactive choice.
The bottom line? People take pain pills every day that carry far more risk—and have never been proven more effective than chiropractic care. If you’re looking for a conservative, non-invasive way to feel better and stay well, you’re in good hands.

Most patients come in for back or neck pain—that’s about 75% of what we see. But chiropractic care can also help with issues like hip pain, headaches, and discomfort in the shoulders, arms, or legs. If something’s keeping you from moving well or feeling like yourself, we’ll take a closer look to see if chiropractic can help.
-
Everyone’s body responds differently, but many patients notice a difference quickly—sometimes even after the first adjustment. I’ll give you honest expectations based on your specific case.
-
No. My approach is focused on short-term, results-driven care. Most patients feel better quickly and only come back as needed—not because they’re locked into a plan. If someone chooses to return regularly, that’s completely up to them.
-
No. Care here is visit-to-visit, and you’re always in control. I’ll keep you informed on how your body is responding beneath the surface, and when symptoms improve, you decide what comes next. Some patients stop once the pain is gone, while others continue until the underlying issue is fully corrected. Either way, your comfort and goals guide the process—and once you’ve reached them, we’ll close your case file.
-
We start with a full exam and a conversation about what you're dealing with. I’ll explain what I find, and if I don’t think chiropractic is the right fit, I’ll tell you that. You’ll never get pressure—just honest guidance.
-
Not all chiropractic care is the same. I take the time to listen, assess thoroughly, and only accept cases I believe I can truly help. Even if you’ve seen another chiropractor before, many of my patients have found that my traditional, mainstream approach was exactly what they needed—and they left feeling better than they thought possible.
-
That’s actually pretty common. Imaging shows one moment in time and is meant to rule out things like fractures. It doesn’t show how your joints move or how well your body functions. That’s where chiropractic care can help.
-
Pain may be common, but it’s not normal. You shouldn’t have to “just live with it.” If something’s keeping you from moving or feeling your best, let’s take a look and see if we can help.
-
No—the adjustment itself doesn’t hurt. Most people say it actually feels like a relief. If you’re dealing with inflammation or extra sensitivity, I’ll use different techniques or work around the area to help your body ease into movement. We always adjust based on how you’re feeling that day.
-
That’s completely understandable. I’ll explain everything before we begin, answer any questions you have, and make sure you’re comfortable every step of the way. I also use different chiropractic techniques, so we can always find an approach that feels right for you. Nothing happens without your consent, and we’ll always go at your pace.
-
Yes. As long as your exam shows that you qualify for chiropractic care, we’ll typically get started right away. On the rare occasion we need more information—like an X-ray to complete the exam—we may wait until we’ve confirmed it’s appropriate to begin care. No matter what, I’ll walk you through it every step of the way.
-
Your first visit usually takes 30–45 minutes so we can get a clear picture of what’s going on. Follow-up visits are quicker—often 10–15 minutes—so they’re easy to fit into your day.
-
Yes. We accept all health insurance and are in-network with most major providers in Rhode Island. If you’re not sure about your plan, we’ll check your benefits for you, file the claim, and explain everything clearly—so you don’t have to deal with the paperwork or guess what’s covered. We only charge you once your benefits are confirmed.
-
No problem. We’ll go over your full history and make sure everything is safe before beginning care. Chiropractic can often be tailored to work gently and effectively around past injuries or surgeries.
-
Absolutely. Many patients come to me after seeing other chiropractors and are simply looking for a fresh perspective. I’ll take the time to understand your history, focus on what’s working and what’s not, and go from there. The goal is always to help you feel better—plain and simple.
-
Yes, I see patients of all ages. If your child is dealing with discomfort, injuries, or posture-related issues, we can assess and adjust appropriately based on their age and needs.
-
Yes. While scheduled appointments are best for timing and predictability, I always do my best to help someone who walks in. You may have to wait a little, but we’ll work with you to get seen as soon as possible.
-
Wear something comfortable that lets you move easily. Loose-fitting clothes—like a t-shirt or relaxed workwear—are helpful if we need to access your arm, knee, neck, or lower back, but they’re not required. You won’t need to change into a gown—just come in whatever feels natural and easy to move in.
-
Of course. Whether it’s a friend, partner, or family member, you’re welcome to bring someone along. It’s totally up to you.
